MXU to Break Ground on One of KC Area’s Last Big Infill Sites
Drake Development plans to break ground Friday on Streets of West Pryor, a $180-million mixed-use project on one of the last large infill sites in the Kansas City metro area. The 70-acre development in Lee’s Summit, MO will be anchored by McKeever’s Market, a new-to-market grocery concept.
Indianapolis-based Pearl Companies is developing a 220-unit luxury apartment complex as a component of the project. Other highlights will include a 165-key hotel, 160-plus age-restricted apartments and a wide range of national and local retail and restaurants.
“When people think of a ‘mixed-use’ development, sometimes the end-product falls short, as it’s commonplace to have opportunities for live and play but the ‘play’ doesn’t extend beyond shopping or dining,” said Drake president Matt Pennington. “We wanted to extend the ‘play’ to outdoor recreation, and this was achieved through ample green space and walking trails connecting to neighboring Lowenstein Park.”
A summer 2020 completion is expected.
