Multigenerational Affordable Community Campus Built on Vacant Church Land
Connect Apartments is planned for September 28th in Los Angeles. Here’s where to get more information and register.
A unique public/private partnership between Irvine, CA-based Jamboree Housing Corporation, the Garden Grove United Methodist Church and the City of Garden Grove succeeded in bringing to fruition an affordable housing campus in Garden Grove, CA called Wesley Village.
The adaptive reuse project was developed on 2.2 acres of the 141-year-old church’s excess parking space and vacant land under a 60-year ground lease. The urban site includes two three-story multifamily buildings that include 47 affordable apartments for 31 working families and 16 senior households with rents ranging from 50% to 60% of area median income (AMI).
Located at 10861 Acacia Parkway, the pioneering, multi-use development encompasses multigenerational affordable housing, as well as educational, social and health services programming available to residents and the community. A third building houses an Orange County Head Start Learning Center. The campus also features 10,000 square feet of active open space.
