Monterey Park Government Center to Get Upgrades After Purchase

Los Angeles-based real estate developer Sonnenblick Development LLC has acquired the Monterey Park Government Center in a $37.5-million deal. This property is an 86,000-square-foot two-story office building located just east of downtown Los Angeles on the I-60 Freeway.

The property sits on four acres at 588 Atlas Ave. in Monterey Park. Nearly all of the previously vacant building was simultaneously pre-leased to the social services department of Los Angeles County for occupancy by three of its divisions: GAIN, IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services), and Management, Info and Evaluation.

Renovation of the building will take approximately nine months and the space will be ready for occupancy by the second quarter of 2022. The general contractor is KPRS Construction and the building architect is Langdon Wilson & Associates.
