Metro Services Contributes to Oakland Clean-Up Following Civil Unrest
California-based Metro Services Group’s facility experts remain on the front lines as they were at the outset, when the COVID-19 lockdowns swept across the nation in March. Now, a new kind of challenge is emerging, and property owners must assess, and repair damage sustained at properties during the recent civil unrest. Metro teams continue to step up to help managers, engineering crews and even volunteers clean up damage.
Recently, Metro Services’ Mark Nolan and Jay Jinks were surveying the damage around their offices at 14th and Broadway in downtown Oakland. They witnessed groups of local high school students cleaning up debris, broken glass, and graffiti from the building.
Motivated by this strong community support, they saw a need and a way in which Metro Services could help out. They raced back to their office and grabbed boxes of gloves that they could see volunteers needed. The gloves were distributed, and the Metro experts cautioned volunteers on proper use of chemicals and PPE.
Metro Services’ Michael Oddo says, “We are lucky that due to pandemic preparedness we have plenty of gloves on hand. I am so proud to hear how our team jumped into action. We are already developing an organized plan to help out more in the coming days.”
