Mayo Clinic Plans Expansions in AZ, FL Totaling $800M

Rochester, MN-based Mayo Clinic is moving forward on two expansion projects in Florida and Arizona that together total nearly $800 million. The $648-million Arizona Forward Project will add 1.4 million square feet to the existing 1.7-million-square-foot campus located near Loop 101 and 56th Street in North Phoenix.
The Arizona project expands clinical capacity, support services and infrastructure, including increasing the number of inpatient beds from 280 to 374 by 2023. The expansion includes a new six-story patient tower; a three-floor addition to the existing four-story Mayo Clinic Building; a new three-story building to house an expanded Emergency and other departments; expanded patient and infrastructure space; and additional parking. The five-year project is projected to start opening by June 2020, with the final phase delivering in April 2023.
A new investment of $144 million will go to two projects on the Mayo Clinic’s burgeoning 400-acre campus in Jacksonville. That includes a five-floor, 120,000-square-foot addition with a two-story building link between the Mayo and Cannaday Buildings expected to be completed in 2021, and a 1,000-space parking garage.
