Massive Google Village Emerges in San Jose

Google village is taking shape in downtown San Jose, where the city is in negotiations to sell 16 government- and city-owned land parcels to the tech giant. Eventually, they could become part of a massive six- to eight-million-square-foot tech campus and transit-oriented village near Diridon Station and SAP Center.

The land assemblage has been underway for some time, with Dallas-based Trammell Crow leading the way. Last year, it unveiled plans for Diridon, a mixed-use project with 940,000 square feet of office, roughly 35,000 square feet of retail and dining and 325 residential units.

The recent buying frenzy involves TC Agoge Associates and Rhyolite Enterprises, which have acquired additional parcels for a combined $130 million. Trammell Crow, Google’s partner for Google village, acquired three properties at 559, 567 and 573 W. Julian St., and one at 20 S. Autumn St. Trammell Crow secured options on at least four more parcels nearby.
