Massive 5M SoMa Project Up for Vote Today

The San Francisco Planning Commission is set to vote today on the 5M SoMa project, a mixed-use development in that neighborhood that would add three tall towers with a mixture of residential and commercial space.

The 5M SoMa project is proposed by Forest City Enterprises and Hearst Corp. If approved, it would bring a 45-story condo tower, a 25-story office building and a 20-story multifamily facility to 5th and Mission streets. This would mean about 700 new condominium homes and 800,000 square feet of office space.

There are currently parking lots on the site, as well as the San Francisco Chronicle building, which the developers plan to keep as part of the overall plan.

If approved by the Planning Commission, the project would reportedly be completed by 2026.
