Long Island City Gets Powerhouse Gym
Powerhouse Gym will fill 10,323 square feet at “The Apple Building” at 30-30 Northern Boulevard in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens.
“The demand for this type of retail shows that Long Island City is attracting a healthy living residential population, to go along with the growing office space market. Such amenities are what brings people to the neighborhood,” said Peter Kosteas of Alma Realty Corp., owner of the eight-story, 213,000-square-foot building, which features 12-to-15-foot-high ceilings.
“Combined with the lower rents and available economic incentives, Long Island City has become an escape valve for tenants seeking ‘cool’ space without paying the premium of being in Manhattan,” said Joe Grotto, executive director of Cushman & Wakefield, which represented the owners. Signature Partners represented Powerhouse Gym.
It’s been a big week for Long Island City, with the additional announcement of a new 1.5-million-square-foot development.
