LISC Awards Put South Side in the Spotlight
Three South Side projects were among the winners of the 24th annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Chicago. The awards were announced last week during a ceremony at McCormick Place.
Preservation of Affordable Housing’s plan for the Woodlawn area won the Chicago Community Trust Outstanding Community Plan Award, while Rosenwald Courts Developers LLC’s restoration of an historic Bronzeville apartment complex received Outstanding For-Profit Neighborhood Real Estate Project Award. In Kenwood, Ansonia Properties’ Lake Village East redevelopment project won the Polk Bros. Foundation Affordable Rental Housing Preservation Award.
Two projects on the West Side received the Driehaus Foundation Awards for Outstanding Non-Profit Neighborhood Real Estate Project and Architectural Excellence in Community Design, respectively. The ceremony also recognized community initiatives and leaders.
