Lindsey Hill MXU Back on the Table, With Changes

Lindsey Hill, a mixed-use project that failed to gain traction with the San Marcos (TX) planning commissioners and residents, is back – but with some changes. The 120-room luxury hotel has been scrapped, and replaced by condominiums. Also changed is the proposed retail space; there isn’t as much of it.

Developer Arqeo revamped plans to bring parkland, residential and commercial buildings to two square blocks of space between the Lindsey-Rodgers Historic District and downtown San Marcos. David Lerman with Arqeo indicated the largest objection was the hotel. That, plus fears about potential student housing, as the development is near Texas State University.

The project was originally presented to the San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission in April 2016. At the time, the P&Z voted 7-2 against, following more than an hour of testimony against the proposal. Lerman said the next step is a city planners’ meeting in January 2018.
