Lessons from Detroit Will Be Focus of ULI Spring Meeting
This year’s Urban Land Institute Spring Meeting is set for May 1-3 at the Cobo Center in Downtown Detroit. Not coincidentally, the host city will be a focal point of the conference’s examination of how urban areas are being reinvented.
The conference’s first day will feature tours of the Detroit metro area’s most innovative developments, led by those directly involved with the projects. Tour options include: redeveloped manufacturing facilities; Detroit’s dynamic public spaces; The Detroit District; adaptive reuse in downtown and other areas; and Ford Motor Company.
Another aspect of Detroit’s transformation—its slide into bankruptcy and the growth opportunities this presented—will come to the fore on the meeting’s third day. It will also look at the resurgence of the manufacturing economy in Michigan.
