Lendlease’s First Southbank Tower Marks Grand Opening

Lendlease last week celebrated the grand opening of The Cooper at Southbank, a 29-story, 452-unit luxury high-rise located at 720 S. Wells St. in Chicago’s South Loop. The community saw its first move-ins in September, and marks the first Chicago project both built and developed by Lendlease, which is planning a total of five residential towers in its seven-acre Southbank master plan along the South Branch of the Chicago River.

“The opening of The Cooper at Southbank is a monumental first step in the creation of the broader Southbank neighborhood,” said Tom Weeks, executive general manager of development at Lendlease.

More than 90 guests attended the grand opening celebration, including 25th Ward Alderman Daniel Solis and Chicago-based visual artist Nick Albertson, who was selected as the featured artist for The Cooper. Lendlease has also begun construction on Southbank Park, an adjacent two-acre green space that will anchor the Southbank neighborhood.
