Leander Moving Toward Senior Activity Center Development

In May 2016, voters in Leander approved funding for the design and construction of a senior activity center. And, recently, the Leander City Council approved an agreement to move forward with the design, engineering and construction administration services of the center. Specifically, this far north Austin suburb contracted with PGAL of Houston for the preliminary services.

The center’s location will be on Municipal Drive, between South West Street and Bagdad Road, though a specific construction schedule has not been determined. The city’s next step is to create a committee consisting of people 55 years of age and older, that would provide an advisory role in the center’s creation, as well as programs and events at the center.
