Law Firm Renews for 251K-SF at the Black Rock Building
Good news for the Midtown landmark known as the the Black Rock Building for it dark granite facade: The law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz has extended its lease for 250,762 square feet of office space at 51 W. 52nd St. in Midtown Manhattan.
The 872,000-square foot tower is owned by CBS Corp., which also has its headquarters in the 38-story building. Wachtell Lipton has been a tenant for about 24 years. Other tenants include Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe and Charles Schwab.
The property was designated as a New York City landmark in 1997, and was designed by 20th-century Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, who is also known for his work on the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.
Moshe Sukenik and Lance Korman of Newmark Knight Frank (NKF), along with co-brokers from Savills Studley, represented the tenant.
