Largest Ever Mission District Project Approved
San Francisco’s Planning Commission granted approval to 2070 Bryant St., the largest housing project in the history of the Mission District. The proposed development by San Francisco-based Nick Podell Company includes two brick-clad buildings totaling a mix of 335 market-rate and affordable units.
The City would fund the construction of the roughly $30-million affordable housing component and Podell has offered to donate the land.
The site at 18th and Bryant has divided the community over its massive size, as well as for the loss of 50,000 square feet of space that once housed a vibrant arts community. City planners convinced the developer to include 19,000 square feet of space for artists and PDR uses.
