Landry’s is Growing on the River Walk
Landry’s Inc., headquartered in Houston, is growing its presence on San Antonio’s River Walk. And some of the competition is concerned.
What sparked the concern was the city council’s awarding of Go Rio San Antonio with a contract to operate a new fleet of river-barge eateries on the San Antonio River. Though Go Rio is local, one of its partners is Landry’s. Landry’s also operates four other River Walk restaurants: Morton’s Steakhouse, Landry’s Seafood House, Saltgrass Steak House and the Rainforest Café.
Former San Antonio mayor Phil Hardberger is not a fan of chains coming to the River Walk. “They cheapen the experience when you eat at a place that you could eat at in 100 other places,” he told the Rivard Report.
