Lackland AFB Earmarks $144M for New Training Complex

Airmen at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Air Force Base will soon be educated, housed, and fed in a new training complex. The complex, which will be constructed by Montgomery, AL-based Caddell Construction Co., has a price tag of $143.5 million.

The training center includes a four-story dorm totaling 280,550 square feet, which will accommodate more than 1,200 people, and a three-story dining/classroom building totaling 106,500 square feet. The first floor will feature a commercial kitchen and dining area, while the top two floors will offer eight classrooms, each with stadium seating for 120 people.

Caddell plans to hire local construction professionals in all disciplines, in addition to a project superintendent, project engineer, and submittals clerk. The company has been involved in $10 billion worth of projects in 37 countries. Most recently, it was awarded a $127-million contract to construct a new headquarters building for the National Nuclear Security Administration at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.
