Kroger-Owned Companies Join Old Post Office’s Tenant Roster

Two Kroger-owned companies will move their offices to 601W Companies’ redevelopment of Chicago’s former main post office in the West Loop, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Meal-kit maker Home Chef will lease 75,000 square feet in the 2.8-million-square-foot building at 433 W. Van Buren St., while 84.51, which provides data analytics to the grocery giant, will occupy 57,000 square feet.

In consolidating its offices from three smaller locations around Chicago, Home Chef CFO Pat Sullivan told the Tribune, “One of the main goals of the search was to find a place that was able to house all our employees, and beyond that to find something that allowed for the most collaboration possible across all of our teams.” Both Home Chef and 84.51 plan to grow their Chicago-area headcounts in the next few years.

Signed leases at the Old Post Office, including Walgreen’s relocation from suburban Deerfield, now total 540,000 square feet.
