Komatsu Planning 81K-SF Longview Expansion

Komatsu Mining Corp. is planning a $7.1-million, 81,000-square-foot addition to its plant at 2400 MacArthur St. in Longview, TX. The addition will add a new parts warehouse and associated offices to the plant. Transet Co. of Longview will build the addition.

Komatsu is headquartered in Milwaukee, and manufactures equipment for the mining, forestry, industrial and construction industries. The company recently completed an expansion of its Longview operations with a 23,000-square-foot power lab facility valued at $6 million.

Komatsu acquired the entire Longview plant, and other operations, from Joy Global for $3.7 billion in 2017. Nucor Corp. in Charlotte, NC, in the meantime, bought Joy Global’s steel mill (the one that now belongs to Komatsu) for $29 million in 2016. Komatsu currently employs 604 people in Longiew, while Nucor employs 140.
