Kilroy Proposes Little Italy Office Development
Los Angeles-based Kilroy Realty Corp.’s proposed 178,800-square-foot office development in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood received high praise from Civic San Diego’s design committee, the city’s downtown planning agency. The six-story building, on a 1.2-acre site between Ivy and Hawthorn streets, is envisioned to replace five old commercial buildings, including an obsolete warehouse.
The development still needs to be reviewed and approved by the full planning agency board and City Council, before what would be Little Italy’s largest single office building can begin construction. The modern, brick and black metal paneling exterior-clad project also includes nearly 15,000 square feet of retail and 280 parking spots.
Also planned are a 1,900-square-foot public courtyard along Kettner Boulevard, and a 10,226-square-foot rooftop deck for tenants. Kilroy anticipates commencing construction on the full-block site as early as November. CBRE will handle the leasing assignment, once the building is approved.
