Kilroy Commences Construction on $450M Spec Development in Hollywood
Kilroy Realty broke ground on the $450-million Academy on Vine spec development in Hollywood. The four-acre site near Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street is envisioned for 335,000 square feet of office space in four buildings, along with a 20-story residential tower and 13,000 square feet of retail space.
Shimoda Design Group’s plan for the full city-block site also includes a public plaza. Academy on Vine is expected to open in early 2020.
Kilroy acquired the site in 2014 from The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for $46 million. The location was once planned to house the Academy’s museum, which is under development at Wilshire and Fairfax.
Kilroy also has another project nearby, Columbia Square, on Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street, where Viacom Inc. took 180,000 square feet to relocate its West Coast operations to the six-story building.
