Kass, Xfinity Partner on Launch of Smart Apartments Platform

Comcast unit Xfinity Communities and Chicago-based Kass Management Services have partnered on what’s reportedly the nation’s first commercial deployment of Xfinity Communities’ Smart Communities platform. Fifty units at two Kass-operated rental properties have been outfitted with smart devices, including smart thermostats and smart lighting.

Renters can control these devices via the Xfinity Communities app while they’re at home or away, while property managers can control the entire platform via Xfinity Communities’ Smart Communities Portal. Over time, according to Xfinity, managers can expand the platform with additional smart features, such as security cameras and smart locks.

“Creating smart communities by integrating smart home technology into our properties makes life easier and more convenient for residents and may even help them have more control over their utility usage,” said Kass principal Mark Durakovic. “In a competitive rental market like Chicago’s, smart features help to differentiate properties, add value and attract residents.”

Connect Texas Multifamily will take place August 15, 2019 in Dallas. For more information, or to register, click here.
