Justworks May Leave Chelsea for 55 Water St.
Payroll and benefits platform Justworks is poised to move from Midtown South to Lower Manhattan. Crain’s New York Business reported that the company is in negotiations to relocate from the Starrett Lehigh Building in Chelsea to 55 Water St., the city’s largest office building.
Justworks is planning to lease about 275,000 square feet at 55 Water St. One floor that it would occupy is becoming available because insurer EmblemHealth is planning to downsize its footprint at the 3.6-million-square-foot office tower, Crain’s reported.
A Justworks relocation Downtown would be the latest in what has become an extensive roster of high-profile tenants that have either moved to Lower Manhattan or are considering it. WeWork recently signed a deal for 200,000 square feet at 199 Water St., and law firm Cravath Swaine & Moore is considering a large lease at 3 World Trade Center, Crain’s reported, citing anonymous sources.
