James Wynne Family Land Under Contract to Developer

The family of James Wynne is close to a deal that would sell 1,040 acres in Kaufman, TX to an un-named developer. If the deal closes, it could be the basis for the city’s first master-planned community. The holding is part of a 2,500-acre ranch belonging to the Wynne family, which owned the land going back to the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836.

The 1,040 acres in North Texas includes an 800-acre ranch property with stocked fishing ponds, woodlands and buildings; and a 240-acre bottom hunting tract along Kings Creek in Kaufman County. Chris Burrow with Range Realty Advisors told the Dallas Business Journal that the master-planned community would incorporate the ponds, lakes and open space into its development. Burrow has been marketing the ranch with Range Realty colleagues Dillon Cook and Eric Leyendecker.
