It IS Easy Being Green, and Residents Want It
Apartment residents today are showing that they are interested in green living, and would like to see more of it. AMLI Residential surveyed 2,800 of its apartment residents nationwide and found that 84% of them believed living in a sustainable home is important, or moderately important, to them. Other interestingness metrics of note: 85% believed that living in a sustainable home was beneficial to their health, and 64% of those surveyed said they’d pay more to live in a green community.
In addition:
- 94% of those surveyed indicated that living in a smoke-free environment was most important
- 93% wanted water- and energy-efficient features
- 85% of residents ranked access to public transportation and walk/bike scores a high priority
- The residential base skewed younger, with 59% of the participants under the age of 34
