Irvine Co. Plans Approved for 370-Seat Waterside Restaurant
The Newport Beach City Council has approved plans for a 370-seat restaurant next to PCH on a 3.5-acre waterfront site. The restaurant is the final part of a plan from the Irvine Co. to expand the Balboa Marina.
The Irvine Co. planned to expand the west side of the marina since 2008, when the floating restaurant-turned-nautical-museum, Reuben E. Lee, was dismantled. The proposed 14,252-square-foot restaurant is designed with sliding-glass walls and patios, on an existing parking lot and small yacht brokerage.
To reduce noise and light impacts on residential properties across the harbor, the Irvine Co. changed a sliding glass window to a locked window, and added more glazing to windows facing Linda Isle.
