Irvine Co. Gets ‘Go-Ahead’ on 942-Unit Cupertino Redev
The Irvine Company received city council approval on its redevelopment plans for The Hamptons in Cupertino, CA. The older apartment property will be transformed into 942 modern apartment homes, including 71 affordable units, and is expected to generate more than $65 million in community benefits and fees.
The 12.4-acre property, designed to LEED standards by Arquitectonica and OLIN, will include resort-style amenities, connectivity to biking and walking trails, a seamless indoor-outdoor environment and a linear park that runs through the community. Other features include swimming pools and water elements, changes in elevation, relaxing gathering spots and The Hub, a bike-centric space.
Current residents at the existing 342-unit multifamily community will be allowed to remain through the life of their leases and may choose to stay on until construction starts in 2017.
