Inwood Rezoning Nears the Finish Line

A rezoning of Northern Manhattan’s Inwood neighborhood cleared a major hurdle with the City Planning Commission’s recent approval of the plan. The next and final step is a vote by the full City Council in July.

The rezoning of a swath of Inwood east of Tenth Avenue could add more than 4,300 apartments, 1,300 of which would be affordable housing, along with 1.1 million square feet of commercial space and nearly 475,000 square feet of community facility space.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Stephanie Baez called the vote “another major step towards bringing transformative investment to the Inwood community, while maintaining its affordability for working families. We’re grateful to receive the support of the City Planning Commission, and look forward to continuing our work with Council Member Rodriguez, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, and other community leaders as we move forward in the public review process.”
