Imperial Market Development on Track, At Last
A year and a half after buying 26 acres that once manufactured Imperial Sugar, developers Geoffrey Jones and James Murnane are finally ready to announce a launch date for its mixed-use development, Imperial Market in Sugar Land, TX. The developers, operating under the name Imperial Market Development LLC, will launch construction on March 1, 2018, and will transform the historical sugar refinery site into a mixed-use property, complete with dining, shopping, residence and office.
The city of Sugar Land has actually been attempting to repurpose the refinery site at U.S. 90 between Interstate 69 and SH 6 since production stopped in 2003. Issues including environmental remediation, land-use approval and contract negotiations – not to mention the Great Recession – slowed the process, however.
Construction completion is estimated for 2019. When the development is finished, the old historical sites will be repurposed, with new developments incorporated as well.
Connect Houston will take place Feb. 7 at Station 3! Log on here for more details.
