Iconic Howard Canfield Building ‘On the Market’
A landmark retail building in Santa Barbara, CA went up for sale in a deal expected to trade in the neighborhood of $35 million. Rametto Company, a private, family office based in Santa Barbara, is selling the nearly 59,000-square-foot Howard Canfield Building it acquired in 1975.
JLL, which is handling the listing, says the property at 827-833 State St. on the city’s main retail corridor offers unique attributes and a distinguished pedigree.
The two-story 1903-built asset has had only three owners in its 115-year history and was designed by John Parkinson, who is famous for designing many of Los Angeles’ landmarks including City Hall, University of Southern California, Union Station and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
JLL’s Tom Lagos, Patrick Toomey, Houman Mahboubi and Heather Boren are the listing team.
