How Many of the Richest People in the US are in NYC?

Of America’s 400 richest people, 55 list New York City as their primary place of residence, according to the 2017 Forbes 400 list.

That’s nearly one-in-eight. No other city appears as often on the list. That’s good news for developers hoping to sell their new multi-million-dollar condominiums. New York City will need to continue to be attractive to very, very wealthy people to absorb all the condominiums now under construction.

The Forbes list include Charles and David Koch, who are tied on the list in sixth place, both with fortunes of $48.5 billion. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is at number eight, with a net worth of $46.8 billion.

Other super-wealthy New Yorkers include Carl Icahn, Stephen Schwarzman and Rupert Murdoch.
