How Long do Texas Homeowners Stay Put?

In 2018, the median duration of homeownership is 13.3 years, according to information from ValuePenguin. On the surface, homeowners seem to be relocating more quickly – the median years of residence for U.S. homeowners has decreased since 2014. What is interesting, however, is that homeowners haven’t reached the historic levels of mobility.

ValuePenguin suggests the reasons for this trend could be economic uncertainty, increasing mortgage rates, and housing value movements.

In the meantime, median duration of homeownership in Texas is, for the most part, below that of the national level. The lone exception is El Paso, which is topping the national median rate.
