Houston Methodist to Unveil $700M Waller Tower

Houston Methodist is readying to open its newest development, the 22-story, $700 million Paula and Joseph C. “Rusty” Waller III Tower in the Texas Medical Center. The healthcare system will officially open the 954,705-square-foot, 366-bed building on Aug. 27, 2018. The Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center and Houston Methodist Neurological Institute will take space in the new building, which is on Bertner Street.

The new facility will offer 18 high-tech operating rooms, including four hybrid ORs that combine advanced medical imaging devices with operating rooms. The hybrids allow for more minimally-invasive procedures for both cardiovascular surgery and neurosurgery.

Also on tap are 14 heart cath labs, three intensive care floors with all-private rooms, six acute-care floors and a VIP suite. Topping the building is a helipad with direct access to the OR, cath labs and intensive care units.
