Houston ISD Wants Chevron Land for Future HS
The Houston Independent School District is eyeing a 28-acre site in Bellaire as the potential location for a new high school. The site currently belongs to Chevron Corp., but the HISD could buy the land with help from existing bond funds. Another bond would need to be approved to fund a new campus’ construction. The existing high school at 5100 Maple St. would be renovated.
The Bellaire campus at 4800 Fournace Place includes a 10-story building. The 900 employees working at the campus will move to Chevron’s downtown facility by the end of next year. California-based Chevron confirmed last July that it would put the Bellaire campus and 103 acres off Grand Parkway up for sale. Cushman & Wakefield is marketing both properties.
