Housing Coming to Hallettsville

Hallettsville, TX is a quiet town in South Texas. There isn’t much industry in the town of less than 3,000 people. However, according to resident Donnie Rother, people go to Hallettsville to retire. Because of that, Donnie and wife Leean Rother are building new rental houses specifically geared toward empty-nesters and retirees.

The houses, in a complex at 1004 N. Texana St., will measure approximately 1,200 square feet, and offer two bedrooms and one and a half baths. Other amenities will include wheelchair accessibility, an attached carport and storage unit. Rent will be between $1,200 and $1,300 a month.

The Rothers, who are undertaking the development – and the investment – in the project by themselves, plan to have six homes done by August, and nine more completed by the end of the year. The site can hold up to a total of 20 homes.
