Home Sales Jump 10%, Prices Increase Slightly
Home sales throughout the San Antonio MSA increased by 10% in May 2019, totaling 3,608 houses sold during the month, according to statistics from the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR). The average sales price increased 2%, year over year, ending up at $274,238.
Also increasing was the number of houses sold in the mid-range (priced between $200,000-$500,000), accounting for 62.3% of the market. Houses priced under $200,000 made up 31.5% of the market, while houses priced more than $500,000 accounted for 6.2% of sales.
SABOR’s Chairman Grant Lopez indicated that low inventory and increased demand is good for sellers. “But that doesn’t mean buyers are out of luck,” he said. “Even though inventory is tight, there are still thousands of properties on the market, with May reporting over 10,000 active listings available.”
