Hines Seeks Approval on First Oakland Development
Houston-based Hines is pursuing its first development in Oakland, CA at the MacArthur BART Transit Village. The developer is proposing a mixed-use TOD project that has already received city staff blessing and must be reviewed by the city’s Community and Economic Development Committee.
Plans include development of two, 6-story buildings on two areas of the 8.2-acre site. Parcel A is slated to include 287 apartment units, 20,300 square feet of retail space, 3,886 square feet of community space and 173 parking spaces. Parcel C-1 is planned for 96 apartment units, 1,100 square feet of retail and 69 parking spaces.
Hines proposes 14,400 square feet of retail space on Parcel A be considered for conversion to live/work space, if the retail leasing market is slow. Construction is scheduled to begin by May 2017.
