Hillwood Approved for $200M San Bernardino Airport Expansion
The San Bernardino International Airport has approved Hillwood’s $200-million redevelopment of existing infrastructure as an air cargo distribution center, an expansion that should eventually generate 3,800 new jobs and an additional $5 million in annual revenue for the publicly-owned airport.
Approval came at year-end, following FAA approval. Hillwood is planning a 658,500-square-foot building for sorting air cargo; two 25,000-square-foot ground support buildings; about 41 acres of structural apron; and taxi lanes for aircraft parking and positioning. The initial lease term is 35 years, with an initial payment of 24 months at $112,000 a month.
The project is a fit for Hillwood’s Alliance master plan, which is anchored by San Bernardino International Airport. The property is close to interstates 10, 210 and 215; and is within two miles of the BNSF Intermodal rail facility and five minutes from Roadway and Yellow Freight hubs.
