Hey, Texas! Investors Really Like You!

Three Texas metropolitan areas placed among the top 10 of CBRE’s 2018 Investor Intentions Survey. Dallas-Fort Worth came in second place (beaten out by Los Angeles), Houston tied for fourth place with San Francisco, and Austin tied for 10th, along with Toronto and Tampa/St. Petersburg, according to survey respondents. Jobs and population increases were among the drivers that have lured investors to the metros, the survey report noted.

The survey analyzed investment sentiment of nearly 300 investors that are focused on the Americas during 2018, including Texas commercial real estate. Nationwide, investors are more positive going into 2018 than they were the year before, planning somewhat more purchasing activity. While risk tolerance is anticipated to remain unchanged, search for yield and diversification is pushing investors toward value-add assets and secondary markets.

The preferred property sector of choice is industrial, with multifamily second.
