H-E-B Under Contract on Land in River Oaks Submarket

H-E-B Grocery is under contract to acquire land in the Montrose-River Oaks Submarket, just west of downtown Houston. The property, at the northwest corner of West Alabama and Kirby, is across the street from Whole Foods Market, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Closing and groundbreaking dates were undisclosed.

H-E-B has been making a push into urban areas throughout Texas. In Houston, construction recently launched on an “urban prototype” of the store in the metro’s Buffalo Heights District. The 96,000-square-foot store, which will anchor a mixed-use development, will have a walk-up coffee and food concept. H-E-B is also planning a new location in the Heights neighborhood, on North Shepherd at 23rd Street.
