H-E-B Store Security Going to the Dogs

Canine security guards have starting patrolling seven H-E-B grocery stores in San Antonio. H-E-B officials and S.E.A.L. Security Solutions, which is responsible for the stores’ security, indicated the purpose of the K-9 dogs and their handlers was to prevent potential problems, such as theft and other mischief, from taking place.

H-E-B- spokeswoman Julie Bedingfield told the San Antonio Express News that the idea is to provide “a visual crime deterrent.” Bedingfield also said she hopes shoppers will feel free to approach the dogs.

San Antonio stores with the K-9 patrols are at:

  • 108 N. Rosillo St.
  • 1601 Nogalitos St.
  • 368 Valley Hi Dr.
  • Las Palmas Mall, Castroville Road
  • 999 E. Basse Rd.
  • 8503 NW Military Hwy.
  • 1150 N. Loop 1604 W.
