H-E-B Curtails Hours, Closes Restaurants
San Antonio-headquartered H-E-B announced it would curtail store hours and close on-site restaurants of its Texas stores, in response to increased buying fueled by the COVID-19 outbreak. Beginning March 15, all Texas stores will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. The hours will extend to Joe V’s and Mi Tienda locations.
According to a release, the truncated hours are in response to increased restocking. “Much of our restocking . . . happens overnight when our stores are closed,” the release noted, adding that the store hours will allow employees time to restock.
On-site restaurants, including True Texas BBQ, Flaming Bird, South Flo Pizza, Table 620, 3009, Oaks Crossing and the Roastery are also being temporarily shuttered, so staff can better replenish products to the stores.
H-E-B indicated that plenty of product is available ,and “while preparation is important, panic is not necessary. We encourage preparedness, but there’s no need to overbuy.”
