Hawkins Way Breaks Ground on Hotel in Downtown Oakland Opportunity Zone

Connect Bay Area is coming up July 18, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco. Get more information, and register to attend on this link.

Southern California-based Hawkins Way Capital, LLC plans to commence construction this week on a high-rise hotel in Oakland that will contain a Marriott Residence Inn and Marriott A-C Hotel, select-service Marriott brands. An affiliate of Hawkins Way will also operate the dual-branded hotel upon completion in 2021.

Located at 1431 Jefferson St., the 18-story, 286-room project will cost in excess of $100 million, with financing provided by New York City-based Goldman Sachs, and is situated in a designated Opportunity Zone.

Hawkins Way Capital’s Ross Walker says, “The hotel, once completed, will fill a hotel void, add to the current and emerging skyline of the city of Oakland, and importantly, provide many entry-level employment positions that can lead to future operational and executive positions in the hospitality industry.”
