Hackman Capital Buying CBS Television City for $700M

Los Angeles-based Hackman Capital Partners is acquiring CBS Corp.’s Television City production studios in Los Angeles’ Fairfax District for reportedly in the neighborhood of $700 million. CBS will continue operations at the historic 25-acre studio that was home to such shows as “All in the Family,” “The Jack Benny Show” and “The Carol Burnett Show.”

The New York-based media company relocated its West Coast entertainment operations to CBS Studio Center on Radford Avenue in Studio City in 2008. That’s where CBS Entertainment, CBS Television Studios, as well as other corporate offices are now located.

CBS bought the Television City site at Fairfax Avenue and Beverly Boulevard in 1950, when it relocated much of its entertainment operations to Los Angeles from New York. CBS had engaged Eastdil Secured to market the studio property, which also includes a 515,531-square-foot office building.

Hackman Capital also owns the historic movie studio, Culver Studios, in Culver City, which is undergoing a renovation and expansion.
