Government Shutdown Closer to Reality

Sam Chandan, founder and chief economist at research firm Chandan Economics, says we could see a Federal government shutdown on Oct. 1 if Republicans refuse to agree to any budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood.

Chandan also says if it comes to that, we would likely only see a government shutdown that lasts a couple of days, unlike in 2013 when it went more than two weeks due to debates over the Affordable Care Act.

Meanwhile, Chandan indicates the Federal Reserve left interest rates flat despite low unemployment numbers because income growth is not where government officials would like it to be.
