Google’s New Cambridge Headquarters Moves Forward

Google’s new HQ being built by developer Boston Properties is moving forward. The 16-story, 417,000-square-foot office tower at 325 Main St., in Cambridge’s Kendall Square will serve as Google’s new Cambridge headquarters. The tech giant signed a 15-year lease for 362,000 square feet at the property.

Boston Properties’ selected architecture studio Pickard Chilton to design 325 Main, which will replace an existing four-story commercial office and retail building at the site, formerly known as 3 Cambridge Center. The new project will consist of 375,000 square feet of office space and 42,000 square feet of retail space on the lower levels. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion slated for 2022.

325 Main is Pickard Chilton’s second project with Boston Properties in Kendall Square. The New Haven-based architecture firm recently designed 145 Broadway, a 19-story, 454,000-square-foot office building for Akamai, slated for opening in late 2019.
