Gilbert’s Bedrock Plans $300M, Resi MXU in Detroit
Bedrock LLC revealed plans for a $300-million residential MXU development on 22 acres of the former Brewster-Douglass housing projects outside of downtown Detroit. The project would include 913 residential units, comprised of 648 apartments and 265 for-sale units, within dozens of varied-height buildings off of Interstate 75 south of Mack Avenue near the Brush Park neighborhood.
The development would also have 3.2 acres of public space, 19,000 square feet of retail, 60,000 square feet of early childhood education space and an 80-room hotel. In addition to Dan Gilbert’s Bedrock, the project would be jointly developed with Detroit-based Woodborn Partners LLC, and New York City-based Jonathan Rose Companies LLC.
Construction is expected to begin next summer for a multiple-phased development. The first units are anticipated to come online roughly two years following start of construction.
