Geico Doubling Carmel Space, Hiring 1,500
The insurance company Geico will embark on a $16 million project that will nearly double its operations center in Carmel, IN. The project will result in nearly 1,500 additional jobs by 2022.
The campus at 101 W. 103rd St., along the U.S. 31 corridor north of Indianapolis, would expand the facility from 109,000 square feet to 213,000. Information technology and claims services employees will join the sales, service and emergency roadside services workers in Carmel.
Geico current employs 1,200 in Central Indiana.
The insurer could get some incentives. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is offering up to $16 million in tax credits and as much as $500,000 in training grants.
