Gehry-Designed $300M Sunset Blvd MXU Approved
Los Angeles-based Townscape Partners received L.A. City Council approval on development plans for the $300-million 8150 Sunset Boulevard development. The project is proposed for 191 market rate apartments, 38 units of workforce and affordable housing, as well as roughly 65,000-square feet of ground-level commercial space.
The Frank Gehry-designed, curved edge and steel facade cluster of mixed-use buildings is planned for 2.5 acres near the Sunset Strip. Renderings of the reduced project show two mid-rise buildings that could rise 178 feet above grade.
The project is the first in L.A. County to be designated a California Environmental Leadership Development Project, which ensures that environmental lawsuits against the property will proceed more swiftly than without it.
