GBT Realty Continues Capital Improvements at Silver Spring Retail Center

National commercial development and investment company GBT Realty Corp. has announced the completion of its first capital improvement project at Ellsworth Place, an urban retail and entertainment center in Silver Spring. The firm acquired the center in 2018.

GBT has added a $300,000 indoor playground at the center, encompassing nearly the entire ground level. The new playground replaces the original playground, which was located outside of the TJ Maxx entrance. Ellsworth Place officially unveiled the playground Feb. 20, with government and community officials and GBT executives on hand to cut the ribbon.

“The new and modern play area, right in the center of top retail stores, adds convenience and fun to the shopping experience,” said Olivia Dial, vice president of design and property at GBT. “The Silver Spring community is such a special place that we wanted to do something a little different with this asset renovation.  The playground is just the first in many uplifts and upgrades planned over the next 12 to 18 months.”
